You may have heard about Jesus. Perhaps your knowledge of Him is limited to what you’ve heard during Easter or the Christmas season, but there’s much more to the story than what is often told.
The truth is that in the beginning when God created man, He gave him the beautiful gift of choice, but man made his choice to live apart from Him (Genesis chapter 3). Obviously, this lead to fall of man from moral and spiritual purity as while pain, lies and even death was made manifest from that separation.
During the course of history, God has been reaching out to man because He loves him. In the Bible you can learn more about His many attempts to do so. However, God made a promise to send a Savior (Genesis 3:15) to rescue it from the degradation sin has brought. Otherwise, the world would perish if left to it's own way. Through the Bible we see Him trying to use prophets, kings, judges and others to convey how deeply He cared about man. And when the time was fulfilled, He (God) stepped into human time in the person of Christ to take the course of history.
God decided to come down to earth as a human being to show His character of love. Just think about that for a moment: He left His throne in heaven to come down to a world that had turned into a sin-filled, despicable place — to save you and me from our sins. God’s love for humans is incomprehensible. In fact, the Bible says, “And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is” (Ephesians 3:18).
Jesus - The Son of God, Himself fully God — came to earth as a babe. He didn’t come here as the powerful King from heaven, but as a helpless child, just like us. He could have come as the Almighty ruler of the Universe, but He decided to come in human form, to win our hearts. Listen or read Steps to Christ
One of the most well known verses in the Bible is found in the gospel of John. It says, “For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him” John 3:16, 17.
When you think about it, it’s pretty amazing that God went through all He did to save us and see us in His everlasting Kingdom. He wants every person — including you — to have the opportunity to be part of the family of heaven. He promises to come back soon, as He promised in His word. The question is: Are you willing to take that step and make Him the centre of your life, both now and forever?
